Nutrition

It seems that perhaps people could take a little more responsibility around their training and racing nutrition.

The number of times I have asked athletes where they get their carbs from, especially for race day, and the response is a vague look and a shrug of the shoulders is surprising.

When pushed, it seems that often people simply don’t take the time and effort to find out. The comments range from…..’my friend said this was good’, ‘I read an article’, ‘I was listening to a podcast’ to ‘well if….[well known pro athlete] uses it, it must be ok’.

Sure, everyone is different and some prefer solids over fluids but how many really figure out the number grams of carbs per hour they require for a 6+ hour TT in Ironman?

Maybe now would be a good time if heading to Taupo.
